Christmas Light Knot
Essential to the 2019 and 2020 displays, the holiday light knot allows for a seamless transition between two strands of lights.

PVC Tree
This is a budget friendly option to a holiday yard ornament. I originally got this idea from the trees they had years ago at Northeast Christian Church.
Cinema Style Sign
This is a method I came up with add high resolution letters and shapes to the display, by pushing regular holiday lights through corrugated plastic.
Light Figures
I use mini zip ties to attach the lights to the frame. This improves the look of the figures.

More Reliable Electric system
Instead of cranking up the volume of our 1994 all-in-one stereo and sending it outside through about 200 feet of speaker wire to relays inside hot-glued electrical boxes and hoping for the best, we have upgraded our electrical setup. This year we are planning on using a slightly more complex digital system, but it will likely pay off in the quality of the synchronization. We will be using a 'color organ' to control the lights this year. These devices were popular in the 70's and 80's, and were often sold as practice kits for students to learn how to solder. We will be using a 12vdc kit from RadioShack opposed to the 120vac kits popular in the 70's. We actually have a 120vac 'color organ' from the 70's but it does not function properly and was in rough condition, however I have fixed it up some.
